It started Wednesday morning and didn't stop until Friday night. For some parts of the country this is normal Winter fare, but not here. I don't remember having a storm like this before. It was actually two storms that ganged up on us and altogether dumped nearly thirty inches of snow. There are drifts everywhere so it's hard to know for sure how much fell but it was enough to bend the Rose of Sharon bush in half. She normally stands as tall as that clothesline pole.
The kids ended up with three snow days in a row and Friday morning our power went out. Thousands of people in our region are still without power. We were very fortunate. Our power was restored by Friday evening. I don't care so much that the lights were out and there was no TV or cable. It's the loss of the heat and hot water that was distressing. I did manage to get the stove going so we had hot food and more importantly, coffee.
Dennis got home from work at 4am and dug out part of the driveway. When I got out there at 8am I found this. That is his Saturn under there. He didn't drive that in the storm but it was cleaned off on Thursday night.
So, while the snow fell and the wind blew and kids sat around telling me how bored they were, I knit on my mittens and watched Marple.
I've just got the lining on one mitten to do and I'll be done. See you Sunday!
